This Is Your Last Chance to Speak Before Clark County’s Final Charter Vote

This Is Your Last Chance to Speak Before Clark County’s Final Charter Vote

After months of public meetings, committee hearings, and community input, the Clark County Charter Review Commission is approaching its final decision for the 2026 Charter Review cycle.

Tonight, Wednesday, July 8, the Commission will hold its final vote on which proposed charter amendments will be forwarded to the Clark County Auditor’s Office for placement on this November’s ballot. Once the Commission votes, Clark County voters will ultimately decide whether to approve or reject each amendment.

This meeting represents the last opportunity for the public to provide testimony in support of or opposition to the proposed charter amendments before they are certified for the ballot.  The Charter Review Commission convenes only once every five years, making this a rare opportunity to influence the future of Clark County’s Charter.

Proposed Amendments Scheduled for Final Vote

  • 26-01: Clarifying Nonpartisan Office Elections
  • 26-07: Housing Impact Analysis
  • 26-08: Require Supermajority Council Approval for County Taxes
  • 26-10: Revised Budget Transparency and Process
  • 26-14: Performance Audits
  • 26-20: Limitations on Consecutive Terms for County Council Members
  • 26-23: Revised Council Powers Regarding Boards and Commissions
  • 26-24: Require Annual Report Publication by the County Manager
  • 26-31: Ethics Review Commission to Consist of Five Members Instead of Current Number
  • 26-40: Amending the Initiative, Mini-Initiative and Referenda Process

Your Voice Matters

If there are charter amendments you believe should—or should not—be placed before the voters, this is your final opportunity to share your perspective with the Commission.

You can:

  • Attend Wednesday’s meeting, in-person or virtually, and provide public testimony in support of or opposition to the proposed amendments.
  • Speak in support of proposals such as the Housing Impact Analysis, Supermajority Approval for County Taxes, Performance Audits, and Budget Transparency reforms.
  • Encourage friends, neighbors, and community members to participate in the meeting or watch the proceedings.

If approved by the Commission on Wednesday, these proposed amendments will appear on the November 2026 ballot, where Clark County voters will have the final say.

We hope to see you there.
