The Largest Tax Hike in WA History Just Passed — Contact Gov. Ferguson
In a late-session scramble, Olympia just did exactly what Washingtonians have been begging them not to do…
They passed a series of taxes, amounting to the largest tax increases in state history. It’s estimated to be around $12.5 billion over 4 years – that’s more than $4,000 per household. Those numbers don’t even include the gas tax increase.
No transparency. No public input. Just a mad dash to squeeze more out of taxpayers like you.
💸 What’s in This Tax Hike Package?
✅ Property Tax Increase
✅ Gas Tax Increase
✅ New Business Taxes
✅ Sales Tax Expansion
✅ Death Tax Increase
✅ Higher Capital Gains Taxes
The new business taxes in particular target child care, home construction, assisted living, and drug treatment companies. The Seattle Times called this “astonishing” in a blistering op-ed on the tax package.
All of this to fund increased spending in a state budget that’s already doubled in the last decade. Meanwhile, household incomes? Nowhere close to keeping up.
And it didn’t have to be this way. Republicans authored an alternative no-tax-increase budget. It funded core services, expanded education funding, and lived within our means. Olympia chose to ignore it.
⏳ The Governor Is the Last Line of Defense
Governor Bob Ferguson now holds the pen. He has previously advocated for a balanced approach and pledged fiscal responsibility — and $12.5 billion in tax increases is certainly not that.
He can veto this reckless, tax-heavy plan — or let Washington families, small businesses, and jobs suffer the consequences.
He needs to hear from you immediately.
🚨 Tell Governor Ferguson: Veto These Tax Hikes NOW
If enough Washingtonians speak up right now, we can send a clear message:
This budget is unacceptable. Go back. Do it right. No new taxes.
The clock is ticking. If we don’t act, these tax hikes become law.
