Taxes, Term Limits & Transparency: Town Halls Start June 6 — Make Your Voice Heard
The Charter Review process in Clark County is entering a critical public engagement phase, and now is the time for residents to show up and make their voices heard at the upcoming Charter Review Town Halls this month.
The Clark County Charter Review Commission is a temporary, elected body of 15 nonpartisan commissioners (three from each of the five county council districts) tasked with periodically reviewing the county’s home rule charter – essentially its local “constitution.” Every five years, the commission evaluates the charter’s adequacy, proposes amendments to improve county government operations (such as taxes, ethics, or council powers), and submits them for voter approval in the general election.
The Clark County Charter Review Commission continues to evaluate proposed amendments that could significantly shape county government structure, accountability, and fiscal policy. Key Amendments Under Consideration
Among the proposals being discussed are:

- 26-08 Require Supermajority Council Approval for County Taxes
- 26-10 Revised Budget Transparency and Process
- 26-14 Performance Audits
- 26-20 Limitation on Consecutive Terms for County Council Members
- 26-26 Clark County’s Requirement to Support Public Safety
- 26-37 County Council Investigative Authority
- 26-40 Amending the Initiative, Mini-Initiative and Referenda Process

What Happens Next
In the coming weeks, the Charter Review Commission will continue its review process before holding a final commission vote on July 8th, 2026 to decide which amendments will be placed before Clark County voters in November.
