Spokane Fire Relief: Trusted Ways to Help

Washingtonians have watched in horror as fast-moving fires devastated communities across Spokane County.

Families have lost homes, businesses and nearly everything they own. Tens of thousands of people have faced evacuation orders, and the full extent of the destruction is still coming into focus.

Many people receiving this email may know someone who has been displaced, needs assistance or is searching for a trustworthy way to help. Below are several reliable resources that can connect people with current information and support.

For those who need help or information:

•  Spokane Complex Wildfire Response Resources
  This comprehensive local resource hub is being updated daily. It includes information about shelter, food and water, medical care, prescription replacement, childcare, financial assistance, mental-health services, transportation, pets and livestock, cleanup and long-term recovery. Anyone unsure where to begin can also call or text 211.
•  Official evacuation map
  Residents should use the official map and local emergency notifications for the latest evacuation information. Conditions and evacuation levels can change quickly.
•  Resources for affected businesses and employers
  Greater Spokane Inc. has created a business recovery hub with information about available grants, disaster assistance, employee leave protections and additional resources for businesses affected by the fires.
•  Home recovery and rebuilding guidance
  The Spokane Home Builders Association provides guidance on insurance claims, selecting a qualified contractor, preventing additional damage, avoiding scams and beginning the rebuilding process.

For those who want to help:

•  Innovia Foundation’s Spokane Complex Wildfire Response Fund
  Innovia is supporting both immediate relief and the long-term recovery of affected individuals and families. Donations are distributed through vetted nonprofit organizations providing direct services in the community.
•  City of Spokane H.O.M.E. Starts Here Fund
  The city has activated this fund to assist people affected by the fires. Donations remain local and can support needs such as rent assistance, transportation, household items, medical equipment, diapers, formula and children’s clothing.
•  Catholic Charities Eastern Washington Fire Support Fund
  Catholic Charities Eastern Washington has established an emergency fund to support people and families affected by the Spokane Complex fires.
