Mayor Wilson vetoes RV accountability. What’s her solution?

Seattle cannot keep doing the same thing and expect different results.

Mayor Katie Wilson has vetoed the City Council’s proposed RV permitting program, even while acknowledging the quality-of-life and public-safety challenges associated with RVs and unsheltered homelessness.

Compassion and accountability are not competing values. We should help people move toward shelter and housing while also maintaining safe, clean, and accessible public spaces.

At some point, we have to ask: Does Mayor Wilson really want to fix this problem, or is Seattle going to continue finding reasons not to act?

Seattle residents and businesses dealing with RVs parked outside their homes and businesses have waited long enough for measurable progress. The status quo isn’t working. It’s time for solutions that deliver results, including the ordinance the City Council just passed.

If you agree, make your voice heard. Contact Mayor Wilson’s office and tell her Seattle needs action to address the out-of-control RV situation in our neighborhoods and business districts.

Seattle cannot afford more excuses and more of the status quo. It’s time for action.
