2025 Edmonds City Council Scorecard

Future 42 Snohomish County is a local county project dedicated to advocating for key issues such as public safety and tax relief. We are a grassroots effort mobilizing Snohomish County citizens to make their voices heard at the local level. We have recently completed our second annual set of local scorecards which highlight key votes taken by Councilmembers in 2025.

This past year was fraught with massive tax increase proposals, which is why our 2025 scorecard focuses exclusively on tax votes. It is important to note that while a majority of City Councilmembers were eager to raise taxes, Edmonds voters resoundingly rejected the city’s proposed $14.5 million property tax hike by a double-digit margin on the November General Election ballot. This suggests that the majority of the City Council’s voting record is not necessarily in alignment with what voters are desiring. Here is our recently published scorecard for the Edmonds City Council:

What were some of the key Edmonds City Council votes in 2025?

A – Placement of a $14.5 million property tax hike on the Nov. ballot. This would have created an additional property tax burden of around $1,000 per household but was rejected by voters (F42 opposed).

B – Approval of a $1.3 million sales tax increase for public safety without a clear implementation plan (F42 opposed).

C – Approval of a $3.3 million increase to double utility taxes from 10% to 20%.

D – Approval of an amendment to remove the assumed passage of a $1.3 million sales tax increase for a transportation benefit district from the budget (F42 supported).

E – Approval of the 2026 budget with new taxes (F42 opposed).
