Center Square Washington: Washington natural gas initiative backer files suit to force state to comply

On Thursday, December 5th, Initiative 2066 to protect access to Natural Gas went into law. Unfortunately, an unelected board called the WA State Building Code Council (BCC) has decided to take it upon themselves to ignore I-2066, and illegally keep their building codes in place that effectively ban Natural Gas in new construction.

BIAW Executive Vice President Greg Lane (sponsor of I-2066) had this to say to Center Square WA :

The building industry has repeatedly and respectfully requested the State Building Code Council adjust the codes to comply with the new law. We even offered multiple pathways to do so. The Council has refused to take action. We are left with no other option but to ask a court to tell the Council that they are not above the law.
