Call to action: Support Restoring Victims’ Rights By Allowing Police to Pursue Dangerous Criminals today

Today, on the Capitol Campus at 4PM in the John L. O’Brien building/JLOB, Hearing Room D SB 5352, the watered-down vehicle pursuit restoration bill, is scheduled for Executive Session in the House Committee on Community Safety, Justice, and Reentry. Executive session means legislators won’t take public testimony but we can fill the room to show them what the public thinks and that’s what we’re asking you to do. Show up to the hearing today.

Amber Goldade, mother of Immaculee Goldade, who was killed because of the no-pursuit policy, will be attending today’s executive session. Since the Committee Chair has chosen for there to be no public hearing, Amber and her family will sit silently in the room.

“This is the last chance for our legislators to return the bill to its original form. The current gutted version of SB 5352 is weak and would not have saved the life of my daughter. I will be attending this afternoon’s meeting at 4:00 PM so that our elected officials remember my daughter Immaculee when they cast their votes. I am asking all legislators who care about public safety to please return the bill to its original version so that more kids don’t get killed,” Ms. Goldade said.
